Kořínek, Mikeš ; Kotlík, Kamil (advisor) ; Peřinová, Radka (referee)
Title: The effect of size of residence on adult's attitude towards physical activity and sport Objectives: The main aim for this thesis is to find out whether the size of the residence effects the attitude of adult population towards physical activities and sport. Methods: 957 of men and women from each region of Czech Republic aged 15-91 (mean age 41) filled a questionnaire SFSPA (Social function of sports and physical activities). Collected data were evaluated in a relationship with size of a residence of the respondents in these categories: less than 500, 501-2000, 2001- 5000, 5001-20000, 20001-50000, 50001-100000, 100000 and more inhabitants. Results: The results don't show any clear trend that could prove the fact that the bigger the size of the residence, the more positive or negative relationship there is of its inhabitants towards physical activity (PA). There is a constant difference though between the smallest size of the residence (small villages; less than 500 inhabitants) and the biggest size of the residence (big cities; 100000 and more inhabitants), where data from questions related to PA relationships are always more positive from probands of big cities then from small villages. Non-sportive activities (walking, dog walking, cleaning, gardening, family walks and mushroom picking)...

Koubeková, Alexandra ; Bunc, Václav (advisor) ; Šteffl, Michal (referee)
Title: Effect of HIIT on overweight and obese adult population Objective: To summarize main information on how high intensity interval training (HIIT) effects an overweight and obese adult population, based on scholarly literature and current foreign research studies. Methods: The bachelor thesis is elaborated as a research of scholarly literature and current foreign studies which include topics about overweight and obesity, physical activity, HIIT and its effect on overweight and obese adult population. Results: HIIT has beneficial effects on overweight and obese adult population based on available scholarly literature and current foreign studies. The effects were noticed on morphological composition such as body weight, body fat, waist circumference, visceral fat, but also on physiological effects such as VO2max, blood glucose rate, diastolic and systolic blood pressure and resting heart rate. Another finding was that HIIT shows similar beneficial results as moderate intensity continuous training (MICT), so we can highlight that HIIT is more time- effective training method than longer-lasting MICT. Long-term HIIT seems to be more effective as short-term HIIT. It is necessary to follow principles during creation and performing HIIT, and also pay attention to our current health status and current...

This diploma thesis examines the impact of nutrition as a vital variable for human health and analyses risk factors involved in unhealthy diet. When incorporated into framework of general principals and broader social context, it is focused on an age group of adults. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part outlines the term nutrition, describes functions of different components of nutrition and energy balance in organism. Furthermore, the theoretical part deals with methods of assessment of nutritional status, description of diet recommendations and evaluation of risks to the health, which can be caused by diet. The practical segment focuses on establishment of dietary habits and spread of knowledge about benefits of healthy and costs of unhealthy nutrition among students attending selected school in Čelákovice. By the use of survey then followed by comparison of surveyed data, this thesis finds insufficient degree of dietary knowledge amongst students of all three fields of study - Graduate pharmaceutical assistant, Graduate social worker and Pre-school and After-school Education. The survey has shown that students have a ground work of theory regarding nutrition and risks regarding unhealthy diet, yet it does not correspond to adherence to healthy diet in...

PROKSOVÁ, Lenka
This bachelor thesis deals with the physical activity and personality of adult women of the age 20-60 years. Sixty-eight randomly selected women participated in this research. The research tools consisted of a Pedometer Yamax Digiwalker SW-700 and NEO, five-factor personality model. The data collected were analyzed using the unpaired and paired two-sample t-tests. The physical activity measurements were conducted in spring and autumn. With the pre-set hypotheses in mind, it has been concluded that there is no statistically significant correlation between the personality feature of extroversion and a higher level of physical activity. Furthermore, the average physical activity was not higher at weekends, compared to weekdays.

What does it lead to? And can be find similar criteria in Facebook in the use of Facebook as among adolescents or is more suitable use the approach with the help of a typology users?" Based on research it was found that the development of adults use on Facebook passes through similar stages as development of adolescents use, but with large differentiation, not only between the two different age groups, but also between adults. Grasping the behaviors of adults seem to be more appropriate with the creation of their typology which allows more account of the individual features of individuals, whether they are Provokatéři, Neználci, Závislí or Ledabylí users. The Role of a Nurse in Prevention of Obesity in Adult Population
DUŠIČKOVÁ, Tereza
Current status: Obesity is a chronic disease characterized by an increased volume of fat in the body (Kasalický, 2011). Usually the value of the amount of fat for men is around 20 - 25 % and 25 - 30 % for women. The research of CLK JEP revealed that 52 % of the adult Czech population is overweight or obese. Compared to the year 2000 - 2001, the portion of the population with higher weight grew by 3 % b. In our population there are 46 % of women and 60 % of men with excessive weight. This result is due to the shortened time dedicated to physical activity (Lifestyle and Obesity, 2006). Subject: The aim of this work is to define the role of general nurses in preventing obesity among adults. Two research questions served this aim. What function is performed by a nurse in the prevention of obesity? What role has the nurse in the prevention of obesity? Methods: To obtain the necessary data for processing the thesis I applied qualitative research that was conducted by individual semi standardized interviews with nurses from obesitologists and general practitioners for adults. At the beginning of each interview, the nurse was informed about the reasons of the research and was assured of anonymity in the dialogue processing. The themes of the conversations were about obesity, it´s prevention, and treatment, inclusion of the role of nurses and integration of nurses in the prevention of obesity in the adult population. Interviews were transcribed and analyzed using coding. This coding was carried out on the answer sheet, where the concepts were categorized. The answers of the respondents were divided into units according to their importance, these units were granted code. Further codes were categorized, therefore sorted according to context and visualized using diagrams. Participants: The group consisted of six respondents; from this number were half the nurses from obesitologists and the other half from GPs. The nurses were familiar with the questions in advance; the actual interview was recorded in writing. The survey was carried out in March 2013. Results: The results show that patients are informed about the care provided mostly by their friends or relatives (see diagram 1). The most common diseases which nurses encounter at their workplace are diabetes mellitus; hypertension, obesity, respiratory disease and back pain (see figure 3). Nurses fulfill the nursing function during the initial examination. The patient is weighed and measured, blood pressure is taken, and BMI is determined; waist circumference is measured as well as the percentage of fat. Blood is drawn from the patient and urine samples are taken. The nurses of GP´s added to those replies- hearing tests and stool testing for occult blood (see Figure 5). The whole session is managed by a physician; care is individual and depends on the disease. The patients? doctor adjusts their diet, lifestyle and gives recommendation for exercise. If these methods do not work, they prescribe medication and recommend a surgical solution (see Figure 7). We can include weighing, measuring of height, blood pressure; BMI determination, taking blood and urine samples, providing administrative and medical assistance among the competencies of nurses (see Figure 8). The role of nurses in the issue of obesity: assistant of the doctor, educator, communicator, as well as supporting the patients, lending or giving them literature or educational material (see Figure 9). Conclusion: Obesity is a very dangerous disease. It is linked to many diseases such as the above mentioned diabetes, cardiovascular disease, especially coronary artery disease and hypertension. It is important that the nurse knows how to care for obese patients properly and in primary care. The nurse occupies roles in this issue - educator (teacher), gives or lends the patient educational material, communicates and supports the patient and last but not least assists physicians.
